Following an invitation from the makeup artist, Lynda Joyce, I arranged an afternoon at Dreghorn Photography's studio in Glasgow.
The aim of the day was to take some beauty headshots of 3 models, Stefan, Flora and Macoula. Everybody was there on time and turned up, so I was quite overwhelmed! Stuart (the studio owner) gave me a wee hand to set up the lights and the white vinyl backdrop and away we went.
Stefan was first out out the makeup room and was a master of the "look", very agreeable guy and quite open to direction. His set was over quite quickly though as he only had a slight touch up from Lynda and there's only so many directions I can ask someone to look.
Flora and Macoula then took turns, with brief breaks for makeup changes. Both ladies were stunning and a joy to work with. The luxury of a studio setting, with a lounge, meant that we could even take a while for Lynda to review the pictures on my laptop and for the girls to see the results.
Except for a couple of early technical glitches with my laptop and banging my head off a beauty dish, everything went very smoothly, but by the end of the 4 hours I was a little bit frazzled.
Still I had time for an agreeable catch up with the studio owner, where we discussed the usual woes of the modern tog, backing up, software, editing and dealing with customers.
