There are some dresses that even men will fall in love with. Way back in April/May when I was working towards arranging the bridal shoot that took place, I came across this dress. Some time and some saving later and I was fortunate enough to bring the dress and Miel together.
Lynda Joyce, who I had worked with before, came along to deal with the makeup and JamZombiePhoto provided assistance and took some shots of his own.
The hard part for this shoot was finding a suitable venue. I searched around for ballrooms, of which there are surprisingly few in this day and age. Some, like the ballroom at Culzean Castle, were far outside of my budget for a just for fun shoot like this. Others were just a little bit this side of cheesy discotheque.
I finally settled on the ballroom at Sloan's in central Glasgow. It wasn't free, but at least it wasn't several thousand pounds. In the end it provided an interesting venue for the shoot, with stained glass windows, mouldings and a fine (if somewhat battered) staircase.
Miel was very understanding as I muddled my way through botching the lighting and mumbling my directions. James provided able assistance and also landed on some nice lighting when he got his turn. Lynda gave some nice initial touches to the first sequence of shots, then got a little more adventurous with the last look, which you may just make out between the bannisters.
These two pictures are just a taster, as I am focusing on the photos from the weekend ceremony, but I couldn't resist posting these!
Part of me would like to do a part two of this dress (and Miel of course!) on location, but as before, it is finding a location that does it justice.
