Movie Star Photographer

Well, it's been a bit of a roller coaster week.

Little Vincent Movie - Actor - Martin Haddow
On Tuesday I veered into Shettleston in Glasgow, invited by the young film maker Erica Von Stein to come and take a few stills from a funeral scene she was shooting for her new film short,
Little Vincent. The film is a study on mental health, based around the life of Vincent van Gogh. As well as shooting my stills though, I also did my first stint as a film extra, providing an extra mourner in the scene.

Filming Little Vincent, With Erica Von Stein and Martin Haddow
Filming has a lot in common with photoshoots, lots of hurrying up then the hanging around, fiddling with settings, adjusting angles, shifting about to find the right light etc. It was quite fun to be mostly the other side of the lens as well, albeit hiding as best I could in the background. I ended up converting most of the images to Black and White to capture the sombre mood of the piece.

The film, when it sees the light of day will be premiered at the Cineworld cinema in Glasgow. If you do visit the Little Vincent facebook page, you will find stills from the other big scenes shot by other photographers, news about the production and further information about the release.

And next on this week's ride. THE ZOMBIE WEDDING lives again!. George M Monaghan's video from the behind the scenes footage and pieces he shot during the Zombie Wedding a few weeks back is now finished. It's about 20 minutes long, with the first 10 minutes dedicated to the hair and makeup work by our amazing team, then the sequence of scenes that told the story we were aiming for and finally some shots of the cast enjoying ice cream and introducing themselves. Thanks to the amazing Lou Hickey we were able to use both an instrumental and album version of her track, Zombie Love.

This weekend sees me off to an event up North at Kilmartin. Handily close to my mother in law's, so a nice comfy bed in the spare room and a cooked meal awaits us as we head North on Friday night.

Next Friday will be my first gymnastic wedding couple. There may be tears before bed time, or it may be a real spectacle on Largs seafront, depending on how well the bride lift goes!
