It's been a busy weekend. A little problem during the week meant I was finding my way about in a courtesy car.
My first trip in it was on Friday evening, up to the Kelpies. The new sculpture feature is just outside Falkirk and the landscaping around them is still a work in progress. I'd been enticed by the prospect of shooting with Nikola, a model I'd met tangentially when she was shooting with another photographer at one of the Radisson shoots organised by the Scottish Creative Network. Teaming up with CKS bridal and Laura Sutherland as hair stylist and makeup artist we shot for an hour or so around these impressive steel monuments.
So that was 1 "bride" down. Saturday saw me running about fetching dresses, juggling cars and collecting jewellery.
Sunday dawned wet and miserable in Largs and I was more than a little apprehensive as I climbed into the car and hit the road. Once over the hill and heading towards Kilbirnie the sky brightened and so did my hopes. In the end, except for an occasional cool breeze we had great weather for our day long shoot.
So 10 a.m. saw me arriving at the Newhall Estate, where I found Caroline, the makeup artist who had brought our models for the day, awaiting me. John greeted us with his usual good grace and a tea and a coffee later makeup was begun. Caroline worked through both hair and makeup for the 3 models. Elya, Yas and Han-nah were fab in front of the lens, very helpful assisting when not and all a real pleasure to work with. I think the nice weather, peaceful country surroundings and the gorgeous Newhall grounds put us all at our ease and made for a very relaxed shoot.
So the dresses this time were from Inizi Dolce of East Kilbride. We'd been muttering about working together since the shoot at Ardoch, so it was nice to finally get a chance to shoot with some of the dresses she stocks. The hair and jewellery accessories were from a designer I'd also been talking to, off and on, for a while. LHG Designs provided some stunning hand crafted combs, headbands and bracelets. The final icing on this particular wedding cake were two beautiful summer bouquets from Liberty Blooms.
So with great makeup, fab hair, amazing dresses, stunning accessories and three beautiful models, there was no pressure on me to actually get a decent photo out of it all! None at all.
And just because it's my blog I'll repeat myself in thanking Newhall for being such gracious and accommodating hosts for the shoot today.
