September is one of those iffy months, you can never be quite sure what weather you may be faced with next. So my plans went aft aglay, but I still managed to do a few things outside the usual during the cooling autumn days.
It opened with a little improvised shoot on the waterfront in Greenock with Marianne. A morning call and an evening shoot as she was on her way home from a casting in Glasgow. Some simple lifestyle/catalogue style shots with the Beacon theatre serving as changing room.
The 14th saw me stepping a long way out of my comfort zone as I set up my backdrop and lights to provide a photo booth for a children's party. I was only poked in the eye a couple of times and seem to have survived the experience.
A week later (ish) and I was at Butterfly with a Bomb's rehearsals for some pictures.
The following Sunday I was back into the studio at Steel Studios with Jacki Clark styling a shoot. This was me returning a favour or three she's done by styling some of my shoots, so it was nice to adapt to shooting somebody else's ideas for a change. Leanne was our model with makeup by Naomi Baxter and hair by Christine Thompson. Naturally it was a perfectly sunny and warm day as we stepped into the studio.
The shoot was sixties inspired and the combination of model and look really worked well. Simple lightling for the most part, though the studio we used is normally a daylight studio, so we ended up with cameo appearances from the light through the blinds which I think added a nice touch to the general black and white monochromatic styling of the shoot.
The end of the month I had, nominally, a weekend off and disappeared up North to visit with my mother in law. This didn't prevent me from scheduling another shoot on the way down. Elya (who I'd had the good fortune to shoot with earlier in the year on a bridal shoot at Newhall) met us on the way back down at Balloch Station for a fitness shoot. I was somewhat daunted as we drove down through heavy rain in Argyll, but Loch Lomond's shores were sun kissed and we managed to get a couple of hours of perfect evening light for the shoot. Elya even seemed to make exercise look like fun!
Now onwards into October.
