Next in this blitz of blog babbling I thought I'd group together some of the shoots I'd had with models I'd not worked with before but with whome I got a chance to work during my residency at Hayburn Studios. There were a variety of models and generally shoots were for a few hours so we managed to get a few different looks and styles of shoot in. The real challenge here was shooting in such a small space (3mX3m) by the time you rig a backdrop, throw up some lights (often bounced off a wall, ceiling or reflector to avoid dazzling the model) there's not a lot of space to work with. I guess I relied on the professionalism of the models to find variety in the poses and setups. In some regards it will be nice to return to being an itinerant photographer using proper studios with sufficient space to breathe and swing the proverbial cat.
Angel was the first of the touring models I had visit the studio. I was still finding my feet a little in terms of using the space but she adapted well to my misdirection and we go some great shots in the end. A little neo noir edit on the black and white shot and a slighly different take on a fairy.
Gemma was on a tour and popped in for a shoot, we discussed clichés and the inevitable pre Raphaelite shot that every red head ends up doing and other nonsense in between shots.
Carla Monaco is a touring model I've seen featured on fellow photographer's work in the past, so it was fun to get to work with her during her Scottish tour.
Erika had a particular fashion shot she wanted to pay homage to, the jeans shot below, but we also managed to shoot some other looks too.
Some of you might recognise Sarah Meikle from her presenting on The Bride Video Blog from last year, but I dragged her into the studio for some shots too.
I'd been corresponding with Lorna about a shoot all through summer, but the original shoot for her swimsuit line never came through. However we managed to get her some new shots for her agency.
I'd shot with Cher earlier in the year on location but took advantage of her popping to Glasgow to shoot again.
Vanessa was one of the first models I shot with at Hayburn Studios, here once with a backdrop and once with just the studio wall.
